Cameron Diaz Arrives in the Big Apple For a Rendez-Vous With A Rod

Cameron Diaz arrived at NYC's JFK airport this evening. The actress was fresh off a stint in Atlanta, where she's been filming What to Expect When You're Expecting. She may be meeting up with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, who's in the Big Apple for a series with the Yankees against the Toronto Blue Jays. Alex actually sat out the last few games due to a hand injury, but he was back in play this evening to lead the Yankees to a win. He will hopefully have time to celebrate Cameron's 39th birthday. Her new costar, Cheryl Cole, shared her own wish for Cameron on Tuesday. Cheryl tweeted, "Happy birthday Cameron, you sexy beeeyyaatchh!"

'The Debt' & 'Apollo 18' Reviews

'The Debt' & 'Apollo 18' Reviews

Which movies are fun for the whole family and which ones are treats just for you? Find out!

In theaters now:
The Debt
Short Story:
Based on the 2007 Israeli film of the same name, this thriller begins in 1997 as retired secret agents Rachel (Helen Mirren) and Stephan (Tom Wilkinson) learn shocking news about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds). All three have been revered for decades thanks to a mission they undertook in 1966, where the trio (portrayed, by Jessica Chastain, Marton Csokas, and Sam Worthington, respectively) successfully tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen) in East Berlin. But did they really complete their mission? Jumping back and forth between two time periods, the suspense builds as surprising revelations come to light.

What They're Saying:
"A Nazi-hunting thriller deepens into a meditation on conscience in The Debt, a movie that holds you in its grip." -- Rolling Stone

"It's a wakeup face slap for a medium that has spent too many warm-weather nights dreaming of superheroes and frat boys." -- TIME Magazine

Good for Kids?
Common Sense Media recommends this flick for ages 16 and above only, since it's rated R for violence and language. Parents should expect to see bloody, realistic fight scenes, as well as swearing and drinking. So if you're interested in seeing this intense -- and well-reviewed -- spy movie, leave the little kids at home. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Apollo 18
Short Story:
On Dec. 17, 1972, Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon. Ever wonder why? According to the revisionist history of this "found footage" sci-fi film, it's because just one year later the U.S. Department of Defense sent two astronauts went on a top-secret mission to the moon -- and something very, very, very bad happened. Is the movie's conspiracy theory legit, or just some entertaining conjecture? You be the judge.

What They're Saying:
This film has not yet been screened for critics.

Good for Kids?
Comparable to the Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, this science-fiction/horror film is rated PG-13 for some disturbing sequences and language -- so it's probably best left to teenagers and adults looking for a good thrill.

In case you missed:

Our Idiot Brother
Short Story:
After being dumped by his girlfriend, idealistic hippie Ned (Paul Rudd) crashes with -- and hilariously disrupts the lives of -- each of his three sisters: Miranda (Elizabeth Banks), a career-driven journalist on the verge of her big break; Liz (Emily Mortimer), a devoted family woman so caught up in being the perfect mom that she doesn't notice that her marraige is falling apart; and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), a bisexual hipster whose cheating ways are threatening to ruin her relationship with her girlfriend Cindy (Rashida Jones).

What They're Saying:
"While too overtly modest to be a comedy game-changer, it is almost sufficiently feisty and entertaining to render the term 'a Sundance movie' something less than dread-inspiring." -- MSN Movies

"It's refreshing, this late in the summer, to find a hot weather comedy that doesn't hate its characters and embed them in scatology and sexual impossibilities." -- Chicago Sun-Times

Good for Kids?
This comedy is rated R for sexual content and language, but adults should take time to enjoy one last laugh before the back-to-school mayhem begins.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
Short Story:
Co-written by horror maestro Guillermo del Toro and based on the 1973 TV movie of the same name, the film follows architect Alex Hurst (Guy Pearce) his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) and Alex's daughter Sally (Bailee Madison), who set out to restore a Gothic mansion in the hopes of selling it. But when Sally gives in to voices asking her to free them from the sealed fireplace in the basement, she unleashes a herd of goblin-like monsters intent on destroying her family.

What They're Saying:
"If the grand finale isn't as resonantly scary as the original's, maybe that's just because, try though we might, we're no longer impressionable kids." -- Village Voice

"It's a plodding, derivative gothic potboiler: The Shining meets Coraline, with a touch of Gremlins played (boringly) straight." -- Entertainment Weekly

Good for Kids?
With an R rating, Common Sense Media recommends this horror film for teens ages 16 and above. Although there is far more suspense than actual gore, there are a few sequences of intense violence and death. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Colombiana
Short Story:
After witnessing the murder of her parents, Catelya (Zoe Saldana) grows up to be an assasin. Working for her uncle as a trained professional killer, she spends her free time on a mission to find -- and kill -- those responsible for her parent's death.

What They're Saying:
"For the most part, it's all big and silly, but at least it's enjoyably staged and crafted." -- Associated Press

"Colombiana may not be the brainiest of actioners, but one of the merits of producer Luc Besson's latest brainchild is that fanboys worldwide will come away with a scrap of horticultural knowledge as well as a pretty good time." -- Variety

Good for Kids?
This revenge-driven action thriller promises to be a bit too violent for little ones. Rated PG-13, Common Sense Media tells parents to expect "plenty of edgy violence, with heavy gun use, physical fighting, and death." Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Madonna Thanks Her Exes at Venice Film Festival

Madonna Thanks Her Exes at Venice Film Festival

In Hollywood, divorces tend to be nasty and public, so it's refreshing to hear a global superstar like Madonna have say something positive to say about not one, but both of former husbands.

The singing sensation, 53, had some surprising praise for her ex-husbands, English filmmaker Guy Ritchie and American actor-director Sean Penn, while promoting W.E., her second turn as writer-director of a feature film. During the press conference for the royal period drama's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival Thursday, Madge told reporters it's no coincidence she married to extremely gifted men.

"I am and was attracted to very creative people, which is why I married Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, two very talented directors," Madonna said, according to the Huffington Post. "They both encouraged me as a director and as a creative person to do what I did, and they were both very supportive."

Considering that Madonna has had a shaky history at the box office -- in addition to notable flop Swept Away, her indie directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, grossed a paltry $22,406 in 2008 -- she clearly needed the support.

W.E. follows two very different romances -- that of former King Edward VIII (James D'Arcy) and American divorcée Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough), and a contemporary relationship between a married woman (Abbie Cornish) and a Russian security guard (Oscar Isaac). According to Madonna, she feels a kinship to Simpson, for whom King Edward VIII abdicated the throne.

"I identified with her in that I think it's very common when people become celebrities or public figures or icons that we are often reduced to a sound bite and that you're given a few attributes and then you're not allowed to have anything more than that," she said.

Although W.E. has received mixed reviews from the festival, the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph critic said it "is rather better than expected; it's bold, confident and not without amusing moments."

'American Reunion' First-Look Clip Hits The Net

'American Pie' alums pose for pictures at their high-school reunion in brand-new teaser.
By Terri Schwartz

Cast of "American Reunion"

The East Great Falls class of 1999 are coming back together for a good old-fashioned "American Reunion."

The first teaser for the fourth installment of the "American Pie" comedy series hit the Internet, courtesy of People.com, and the 60-second clip features a montage of pics of the main characters posing in a photo booth at their high-school reunion. "Get ready for one last slice," the video teases in a voiceover.

Starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Seann William Scott and Eddie Kaye Thomas, the final movie in the "Pie" series follows the beloved characters as they come together for their 10-year reunion. A recently released plot synopsis teases that things aren't so different for the old friends a decade later; Finch (Kaye Thomas), for one, is still longing for Stifler's (Scott) mom.

It turns out that the bond among the castmembers is also just as strong, even so many years after they filmed the '99 original. People.com caught up with Scott and Biggs, and they talked about the impact "American Pie" has had on their lives.

"We realized that no matter how much we may have changed individually, as a group, we will always be connected and have a special chemistry that arises immediately when we're together," Biggs said.

According to Scott, that involves a lot of boys being boys. "In many respects, we've grown up a lot," he said. "But on the other hand, we haven't grown up at all. On set, Jason Biggs was farting up a storm, Chris Klein was belching, and Eddie Kaye Thomas and Biggs were hitting each other in [the groin]."

Directed by "Harold & Kumar" helmers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, "American Reunion" has reunited its original cast en masse: Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne, Shannon Elizabeth and Jennifer Coolidge are all back. Newcomers Katrina Bowden and Chad Ochocinco also hit the reunion when the movie opens in theaters on April 6, 2012.

Check out everything we've got on "American Reunion."

Prince Harry: Florence Brudenell-Bruce new Girlfriend

Prince Harry new girlfriend

The most eligible member of the Royal family appears to be off the market, as Prince Harry and former girlfriend of Formula One racer Jenson Button, Florence Brudenell-Bruce are reportedly engulfed in a budding romance. According to "The Sun," the 26-year-old redhead has taken to numerous secret trysts with leggy swimwear and lingerie model, even spending intimate get-a-ways at her pricey Notting Hill pad. He?s finally moving on from Chelsy Davy, and Prince Harry has chosen a super-hottie with whom to spend his time - Florence Brundenell-Bruce. According to a report, the British Royal and the lovely lingerie model have been seeing each other for a few months, now, though they?ve kept their relationship under wraps. However, when Harry finally declared that his on/off relationship with Chelsy was over for good, news began to break that Florence was his new leading lady. An insider told press, ?It?s very early days but Harry and Florence are an item. She is a lot of fun, blond and very good looking. Harry really likes her.? Ms. Brudenell-Bruce comes from a wealthy family of wine merchants, and has her own $3 million home in Notting Hill, London. The much-talked about twosome met years ago, but have become much more cozy as of recent, following Harry's "final" split with long-time love interest Chelsy Davy. While the palace is yet to confirm nor deny the rumored romance, one unidentified source says the duo are definitely coupling-up, telling the newspaper, "It's very early days but Harry and Florence are an item. She is a lot of fun, blonde and very good-looking. Harry really likes her." [gallery=760]

'Dark Knight Rises' Director Is 'Genius,' Tom Hardy Says

'I just trust him and how he slowly feeds what he's about to do to the world,' Bane actor says of Christopher Nolan's 'enigmatic' methods.
By Kara Warner

The only problem with Christopher Nolan's hugely anticipated "The Dark Knight Rises" is that no one involved in the project can talk about it, and with such secrecy comes obsessive fanboy quests for spoilers and on-set footage and photos.

When MTV News caught up with "Rises" star Tom Hardy as he promoted another of his anticipated films, "Warrior," we asked what he thinks about the incessant quests for details about his character Bane and the rest of the film.

"I think it just shows that people are really into it. It's great," Hardy said. "If you love something, why not follow it?"

He added that he doesn't much care for those who seek out spoilers, however, and also hasn't paid much attention to the photos that have been released, official or not.

"There are photos out there; it's nice to see them," he said, before changing the direction of the conversation toward more general territory. "Chris Nolan is amazing. How he releases his films, he's a very enigmatic human being. It's genius, what he does, and I just trust him and how he slowly feeds what he's about to do to the world."

Speaking of one of the things Nolan and company have fed to the world, we asked for his reaction to Anne Hathaway's catsuit.

"I've seen it, obviously. I've seen it up front," he said, not willing to expand on the subject. "I think everything Chris Nolan and every person at Warner Bros. [does] is amazing," he continued with a cheeky smile. "As I do Lionsgate as well [the studio releasing 'Warrior']. Funny, isn't it?" he said when his "Warrior" co-star Joel Edgerton burst out laughing at Hardy's politically correct outpourings of love for everyone. "Mercenary of me," he joked, proud to be toeing the company line. "Ka-ching!"

Beyonce Will Be an "Incredible Mother," Says Kelly Rowland

Beyonce Will Be an "Incredible Mother," Says Kelly Rowland

Beyoncé gave an incredible performance of "Love on Top" at last night's Video Music Awards -- but it's the five seconds afterward, when she dramatically revealed her baby bump, that's got everybody talking! Though she flaunted her belly on the red carpet before the show, her post-performance tummy rub was the real "wow!" moment: We got to see hubby Jay-Z grinning ear-to-ear while pal Kanye West jumped up and down in excitement. Another friend who's thrilled for Beyoncé and her man: her former Destiny's Child group-mate Kelly Rowland.

"I have known for quite a while, and she's happy, and Jay is happy, and that's all that counts," Rowland told People.

Rowland, 30, also expressed confidence in Beyoncé's abilities as a mother. "I think she'll be an incredible mother, because she's always been motherly," said the singer. "I think that she takes after so many traits from her mother. And I just think it's going to be so natural for her. It's natural for her now!"

Beyoncs mother Tina Knowles ran her own hair salon while Beyoncé was growing up, then became the costume designer for Destiny's Child -- and still works with her daughters today. As role models go, Beyoncé could do worse!

While the pregnancy announcement was a cleverly-staged surprise, Beyoncé, who turns 30 on Sept. 4, has been forthright about her plans to have a family one day.

The diva has said in the past that she wanted to have a baby at 30 -- although in a June interview with Piers Morgan, she added, "But I also said I was gonna retire at 30. And I'm not retiring!" As for those baby plans, at the time she said, "Only God knows." Well, now the rest of the world knows too!

Watch Beyoncé's performance and baby-bump reveal in the VMAs clip below.

Daniel Radcliffe's 'Woman In Black' Trailer: Seriously Creepy

'Harry Potter' vet's new horror-flick footage might be clichéd, but that doesn't mean it's not effective.
By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler

If the teaser trailer for Daniel Radcliffe's "The Woman in Black" surprised us in April with just how darn creepy it was (as opposed to the more thriller-driven supernatural story we were expecting), the new, full trailer has opened our eyes to the full, horror-heavy potential of the actor's first post-"Harry Potter" role.

Our eyes are open, sure, but they also closed, admittedly, once or six times, as we took in viewing after viewing of the footage in preparation for our latest trailer commentary. Hit "Play" on the video to watch along with us, and then read on for a deeper dive into the action, which begins with a seriously eerie silence.

From there, it must be said, the trailer incorporates a whole lot of familiar horror-movie tropes. The first is those creepy children. Not only do we get creepy kids, we get creepy kids delivering narration in rhymes. It might be clichéd, but that doesn't mean it's not effective. And it's good to see Radcliffe taking on material that truly forces him to step outside the Quidditch pitch.

Between "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway, then "The Woman in Black" and fare like "All Quiet on the Western Front," the 22-year-old actor isn't shying away from less-poppy projects. That's all part of his plan: different material, no break after his decade-long "Potter" run.

"If I had been taking some time off and not doing stuff, I think the temptation in terms of the media and the public, to a certain extent, is [that] if you don't hear from a child star for a while, you can kind of condemn them to the been-and-gone pile," Radcliffe told MTV News in the spring. "I wanted to make sure that didn't happen."

We haven't, however, gotten to see much of his creative range in any of the "Woman in Black" trailers. What we have seen is that he's excellent at staring at things. In the new footage, he stares from carriages, out windows, in mansions, and just kind of longingly off into the distance. Perhaps Radcliffe has been taking some lessons from Derek Zoolander. Hey, if he can just stare at things for the next 20 years, he's guaranteed a career.

Halfway through the trailer, we find ourselves facing another horror movie cliché: bloody writing on the wall. Listen up, people! If you ever find bloody writing on a wall, get the hell out of there! If this moment occurs, say, 20 minutes into the movie, the entire thing should be 25 minutes long, with the last five minutes devoted to a single uncut shot of Radcliffe fleeing as fast as his little legs will take him.

Yet this literal writing-on-the-wall gives us the biggest — or, really, the only — peek into the film's plot, which the trailer, to its credit, doesn't deeply explore. Here's what we already know: Based on a 1983 novel by Susan Hill, the story follows Radcliffe's Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer dispatched to sort out a recently deceased client's affairs, only to discover the nearby town is haunted by the ghost of a scorned woman. So does the bloody writing relate to the past, scorn-producing events? To someone speaking from beyond the grave? Possibly to Radcliffe himself?

There are many different ways to interpret it. Many interpretations, yes, but only one conclusion: Run, Harry, run! But run, clearly, he does not do soon enough, as the trailer ends with Radcliffe coming dangerously close to a demonic-looking woman. Is this the woman in black? Well, it's a woman and she's wearing black. And she has those blacked-out eyes, a nod to a photo earlier in the trailer, featuring a family with scratched-out eyes. So, for now, we'll keep an open mind on everything except this: "Woman in Black" looks pretty damn scary.

Now, we'll open our eyes. Please excuse us while we go throw up.

Check out everything we've got on "The Woman in Black."

Ed O?Neill Scores Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

It is an exciting time in the life of Ed O'Neil - he has a hit sitcom and as of yesterday (August 30) he also has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ?Modern Family? man was joined by his ?Married... With Children? spouse Katey Sagal and his current on-screen wife Sofia Vergara as he accepted the honor.

Ms. Vergara told press, "When I was in Colombia and I was a young, very beautiful girl, I would watch Married... With Children, with Ed with his hand in his pants, talking with this very sexy Antonio Banderas accent?because in Colombia it was dubbed into Spanish."

"So he talked perfect Spanish, and there I was sitting, and I would never in a million years think that I was going to grow up to marry Al Bundy. Never, even if somebody had paid me to believe that...But to marry Al Bundy has been one of the most joyful things in my whole life."

Katey added, "I want to tell Eddie, he's one lucky mo-fo. Here he's got these two beautiful women that he's had in his life, hopefully this one as long as he's had me. And I'm sure he will."

Finally, Ed shared his thoughts- "As I'm standing here, it's a bit emotional. I can't help thinking that somewhere in the world, at this moment in a hospital, a beautiful little baby girl is being born. And when she grows up she's going to be my next wife on TV, and I look forward to that day. This is overwhelming. I want to thank the fans for being here. No fans, no show, no career."

'True Blood' Star Warns Of The Curse Of 'The Caller'

Stephen Moyer and director Matthew Parkhill recall the eerie occurrences on the film's Puerto Rico set.
By Josh Wigler

Stephen Moyer in "The Caller"
Photo: Samuel Goldwyn Films

There are probably stranger, scarier things in the universe than a mystery woman from the past who can cross the space-time continuum to obsessively call your home telephone for hours and days and weeks on end. But the idea is plenty creepy as the premise of "The Caller," director Matthew Parkhill's indie thriller starring "Twilight" villainess Rachelle Lefevre and "True Blood" vamp Stephen Moyer.

In "The Caller," Puerto Rico resident Mary Kee (Lefevre) moves into a new home following a nasty separation from her abusive husband ("Eureka's" Ed Quinn), only to find an even more harrowing nemesis in Rose (Lorna Raver), an unhinged and disgruntled woman living in the late 1970s. Rose somehow has the ability to call Mary's new phone number some 30 years into the future, a seemingly impossible sci-fi feat that leaves our protagonist skeptical, frustrated and frightened in turns. When Mary's patience for Rose's hysteria wears thin, she learns the hard lesson that scorning a deranged woman who lives in the past can be hazardous for your health.

Though it boasts a sinister plot, it was actually the behind-the-scenes mysteries that raised the hair on the backs of the "Caller" cast and crew's necks throughout the film's 23-day shoot.

"Sometimes a shoot will take on its own energy," Moyer, who plays Mary's love interest and resident time-travel expert John Guidi, told MTV News. "Every day, something was happening. Things were breaking, film missing, scratches on necks ... it just became this regular occurrence. Even after I left the shoot, me and Matthew and Rachelle would speak regularly, and there would be bits and pieces happening on a regular basis: phone calls coming in from people, literally prank phone calls. It was an odd, odd thing."

Parkhill said that screenwriter Sergio Casci was convinced there was a "curse of 'The Caller.' " But the director doesn't much believe in curses himself, though even he admitted to "weird" and "unsettling" occurrences.

"We dressed Mary's living room with these old National Geographic magazines, and one of them fell open to this page where there were three corpses hanging in this old room, that were identical to the three corpses hanging in our pantry," said Parkhill, referring to a trio of bodies that play a pivotal role in the horror film. "Then when we were shooting in a supermarket, we moved one of the supermarket shelves and there was an old bottle of perfume that had cracked which was labeled 'Rose,' which is [the name of the film's villain]."

In the end, none of these eerie events was powerful enough to derail production on "The Caller," which opens in limited release on Friday (August 26). But that doesn't mean that the alleged curse of "The Caller" doesn't still rear its head from time to time. The press junket held in San Juan earlier this week just so happened to coincide with the presence of Hurricane Irene in Puerto Rico, a threat that is now storming its way up the East Coast. As a result of the storm, certain parts of Puerto Rico — including the hotel that housed the "Caller" cast and crew for the week — were left almost entirely without power for multiple days.

"It feels particularly fitting that we're in the middle of a hurricane," Moyer told MTV with a grin. "There's no power. Last night, after we all left the bar, we had to go back to [our rooms] with flashlights. It's literally pitch black in the hotel. You've just watched a horror film, which is pretty scary, and you're going into your room with a flashlight and you can't see anything. I think all of us went through some moments last night thinking, 'This is it. My time is up! Somebody's going to jump out of the cupboard!' "

Check out everything we've got on "The Caller."
