?The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug? New Trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch?s Smaug Debuts

Watch the second trailer for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.’ It gives the first glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the dragon in the second movie of Peter Jackson’s ‘Hobbit’ trilogy. Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage and many, many others star in the highly anticipated sequel. The new movie is a follow-up to producer, writer and director Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ released in 2012. It will, in turn be followed by ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again,’ in December 2014. All are based on the classic 1937 J.R.R. Tolkin novel ‘The Hobbit’ a prequel to ‘Lord of the Rings.’ The new trailer runs two and a half minutes and its rich in plot and subplot, and, as noted, gives us the first glimpse of the dragon, Smaug, whose ruinous evil lives up the the title. After the release of the first trailer, curiosity has built up over the eventual emergence of the dragon. The curiosity is now satiated for now, as we see the voice and motion portrayal of Smaug by Benedict Cumberbatch (picture above).
