Lady Gaga and R. Kelly Turn ?Do What U Want? into a Presidential Scandal in AMAs Performance (Video)

Lady Gaga and R. Kelly evoked a Presidential scandal in their performance of the duet ‘Do What U Want’ at the American Music Awards. The elaborate staging saw the duo romancing each other in the Oval Office. The song, ‘Do What U Want’ is Lady Gaga’s first-ever collaboration with the R&B icon R. Kelly and is the second official single from her latest album, ‘ARTPOP.’ During her recent Saturday Night Live stint as host and musical guest she and R. Kelly had put on a theatrical performance of the song with some eyebrow raising simulated sex on the stage. This time, the duo went for a full-scale Broadway style production complete with stage sets and numerous backup dancers. R. Kelly was President Robert Kelly, a fictitious character, with Lady Gaga portraying a character evoking Marilyn Monroe of the iconic JFK “Happy Birthday Mr. President.” The Oval Office antics draw reference not just to the current plotline of ABC’s ‘The Scandal’ which sees Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope having an affair with the fictional President Fitz, but also, harking back a few years to President Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
