Brad & Angelina Donate $150,000 in Support of National Adoption Day

Brad & Angelina Donate $150,000 in Support of National Adoption Day

Do-gooding couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have once again opened up their hearts -- and wallets -- for a cause that hits close to home.

Pitt and Jolie, who adopted three of their six children, put their giant paychecks to good use by donating $150,000 to the SOS Children's Villages in recognition of National Adoption Day, which aims to encourage adoption and bring awareness to the more than 100,000 children still in need of homes in this country.

The hefty sum will provide the long-term financial support needed to properly care for a family of four foster children.

"I am truly thankful that Angelina and Brad understand the power of family -- the kind of stable family that SOS holds as an essential part of healthy child development," said Dr. Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children's Villages USA. "Together, Angelina and Brad have been eyewitnesses to the great work of SOS...Angelina and Brad know that children's need for a family is universal."

This isn't the first time the parents have given to the cause that is so close to their heart. Over the summer, Jolie visited an SOS village in Haiti and brought toys for the children. She also met with government officials to push for better protection of orphaned children. Together, she and Pitt have also visited SOS centers in Chad, Ethiopia and Jordan and donated $100,000 to the cause last year.
