If you notice Gwyneth Paltrow looking particularly svelte this Wednesday night onstage at the 2010 Country Music Awards, it's because her trainer quickly whipped her back into shape.
The actress, 38, gained 20 pounds for her role as an alcoholic singer in the upcoming Country Strong. The Oscar winner's personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, spoke with People about how the actress packed on the pounds for the part and later took them right off.
Anderson reveals that Paltrow has "never been a dieter" and says she ate a lot of fried chicken under the director's orders. "It was frustrating for me," says Anderson, who helped the actress lose 30 pounds for her role in the first Iron Man flick. "But they wanted her to gain (weight)."
Unlike losing her baby weight (which Paltrow called the "hardest thing I've ever done"), the actress quickly took off the 20 by going back to her usual routine. But with her upcoming Glee appearance and CMA performance, Anderson says she didn't go easy on Paltrow. "I made her sweat," she says. "The CMAs is a tough stage to share."
Of course, it's not how Paltrow looks on the CMA stage that fans really care about -- it's how she sounds. And when we asked iVillage readers if they thought Mrs. Chris Martin has what it takes to be a country crooner, more than 75 percent of you said yes!
