Last week, various news outlets reported that talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey -- who endorsed Barack Obama's presidential campaign four years ago -- wasn't likely to publically support Obama's reelection bid in 2012.
Rumor had it that Oprah was concerned about alienating potential viewers of her new network, OWN. Thankfully for Obama -- we all know how much weight Oprah's stamp of approval carries -- Winfrey's spokesperson denied the rumors. And now the queen of daytime TV seems to be confirming her support for the first couple, inviting them to sit on her couch for one of The Oprah Winfrey Show's final episodes.
On April 27, Barack and Michelle Obama will tape an interview with Oprah for an episode set to air on May 2. The talk show's finale -- yes, as in last show ever -- is scheduled for May 25.
Obama's decision to appear on Oprah has naturally drawn fire from some right-leaning news sites, who question his priorities in the midst of a budget battle and two wars.
But that's just politics. The Obamas are already scheduled to be in their hometown of Chicago for three fundraisers. Like all sitting presidents, he's going to need some big bucks to face down the challenges of the coming election year!
