One thing everyone can agree on: LeAnn Rimes is a slim woman. But now up for debate: How slim is too slim?
Long known for her cover-girl shape, the singer has been looking even skinnier in recent photos, which has prompted alarm that she is getting too skeletal.
Part of the debate is likely being fueled by Rimes herself, who continues to deny that she is unhealthy and claims she is a big eater, tweeting recently, "I swear I just ate 4 chick-fil-a chicken strips, a chicken breast, rice, green beans and a lemon bar."
We're not doctors, so we can't comment on her health, but if she really does eat a lot, we can unequivocally say that she's certainly not eating a lot of cheeseburgers and fries.
The most recent photo to raise eyebrows hit the Internet Monday, when Rimes sang "The Star Spangled Banner" at the NCAA championship game in Houston while wearing a white, lacy, sleeveless mini that, according to E!, showed off her "alarmingly shrinking figure."
Rimes fought back via her Twitter page, writing, "To those who have to turn to other's lives and judge with no real knowledge of how anyone lives, you can you know what!" Shortly thereafter, she added: "dear lord! I do not workout too much nor do I starve myself. I'm so over this and moving on."
All this chatter about Rimes' weight, though, reveals one immutable truth about celebrities, and to a lesser extent, women in general: They just can't win at the weight game. Perceived as a smidge too heavy? Pregnant! Indulgent! Unemployable! But if they then go on to lose weight, that's a no-win either, as they're branded anorexic, sickly, drugged-out or worse.
So what's a girl to do? We'll let Rimes work that one out herself (along with her doctor, nutritionist, trainer or whoever else she chooses to consult). But if she really wants to move on, at least she should be honest, if not with her critics, at least with herself.
