It's official! As expected, Bravo has canceled The Real Housewives of D.C. after just one season, citing low ratings as the cause: "The show just didn't do well and it wasn't worth airing another season," a source told RadarOnline. But according to star Michaele Salahi -- best known for her fondness for crashing White House parties -- anemic ratings weren't the culprit in the show's hasty demise. The other housewives' hatred for her was the nail in the coffin!
Controversy-magnet Salahi, 45, claims she saw it coming, telling People, "I sort of knew this was going to happen," she said. "The other women didn't want me back on the show, and (Bravo executive) Andy (Cohen) stood his ground and said there wouldn't be a show without me on it. I'm grateful to him for that."
Does anyone blame the other housewives for wanting to boot the platinum blonde from the franchise? She has been a prominent object of criticism.
Let us count just some of the ways: She and her husband Tareq famously crashed a White House party in 2009, the couple was slapped with a lawsuit over unpaid debts, and Michaele was embroiled in a controversy in August with The View host Whoopi Goldberg over accusations that Whoopi hit her.
We didn't even get to suspicions that Michaele lied about her claim of being a Washington Redskins cheerleader or that she was ousted from Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab because of one teensy tiny problem: She didn't have an addiction.
Not surprisingly, Salahi's fellow cast mates were not big fans. "There was so much negativity with the other women," Salahi tells People. "If they could blow me up, they would. That's how much they hate me."
Despite the tension, Salahi says the show was a positive experience. "I did have a wonderful experience on the show," she insists. "This really allowed me to help raise awareness of MS," said the reality star, who suffers from multiple sclerosis.
Salahi says despite the cancellation, we -- surprise! -- haven't heard the last from her. "I have an offer for a show that is still in the works."
If that one doesn't work out, don't expect Salahi to take the blame for that one either.
