Lady Gaga Sings in SNL Monologue on How to Get ?Cheap Applause?

Lady Gaga, both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, devoted her opening monologue to a Broadway style song-and-dance number on to ways to get cheap applause. With a willing audience, it was mission accomplished! For the 27-year-old pop music superstar it was a memorable takeoff of her own hit single, ‘Applause,’ from her recently released album, ARTPOP. It revealed that she, who has made no secret of her desire for fame — the song has the oft repeated line ‘I live for the applause, applause, applause’ and she did call her sophomore album ‘The Fame Monster’ after all — was not adverse to mocking that same desire. With that that intent, Lady Gaga strolled out on the SNL stage in a silver fringe-skirted chorus girl style costume and won her first round of applause by pointing out that she grew up in New York City. “Give it up for New York!” she added.
