Beyonce Releases New Self-Titled ?Visual Album? on iTunes, a Total Surprise to the World

Beyonce released her fifth studio album, a self-titled ‘visual album’ on iTunes and has taken the entire world by complete and total surprise. Apparently, absolutely no one in the industry saw this coming. Beyonce’s fifth studio album was highly anticipated, but as months went by there was never an announcement of a title or a release date. Along the way, as she continued with her The Mrs. Carter World Tour she debuted a few new songs, including “Bow Down/I Been On,” “Grown Woman” and “Standing On the Sun.” Most recently she released ‘God Made You Beautiful’ with lyrics apparently referencing her daughter, Blue Ivy, as part of the DVD release of her HBO documentary. The new 14-track album — with 17-music videos — was released shortly before midnight on Friday December 13th without warning, without hint, without the usual long and drawn out promotion. It is quite the game changer. Only a music superstar such as Beyonce could successful pull this off. The buzz over the surprise release is, not surprisingly, quite enormous.
