Josh Gad to Star in ?Gilligan?s Island,? the Movie

Josh Gad will star in a movie version of ‘Gilligan’s Island,’ the iconic 1960s TV series that saw its seven castaways perpetually stranded on a tropical island. The actor will take the series and its fateful three-hour tour to the big screen. Deadline.com broke the story that Warner Bros will bring forth the movie and reboot the television franchise with Josh Gad both as the star and as a co-writer on the script along with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez. The 32-year-old actor had a starring role in the Broadway musical ‘The Book of Mormon’ and was also the voice of the snowman in the Disney animated movie ‘Frozen’ and also had a costarring role in the now-cancelled NBC sitcom ’1600 Penn.’ It was Bob Denver who portrayed Gilligan in the 1960s TV sitcom alongside Alan Hale, Jr. as the skipper of the yacht The SS Minnow. The series was created and produced by Sherwood Schwartz. Deadline.com does not confirm that Josh Gad will portray Gilligan or The Skipper as that remains to be seen along with all other casting details.
