'Celebrity Wife Swap': Who Should Star?

How could you possibly make ABC's reality series Wife Swap any better (i.e. more outrageous)? How about introducing a celebrity version?

That's just what ABC has done, with a six-episode order of Celebrity Wife Swap, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The premise is the same as the original show, which last aired new episodes in late 2010. Two very different couples are selected. The wives switch places for one week, and all involved learn what it's like to live with someone who has a lifestyle very unlike their own. But the couples involved will be Hollywood stars. (Or, rather, the reality-TV-world version, where the word "star" is used more loosely.)

So in this incarnation of the show, the wife will probably be moving out of one mansion and into another. But maybe the other mansion will be tacky, or overrun with weird pets, or filled with only vegan food. Stars can have weird lifestyles, too, yo.

OK, granted, Wife Swap can arguably be considered tasteless and overdramatic. But Celebrity Wife Swap just sounds funny. That is, depending on which celebs the producers are able to wrangle. Since high drama and weird living habits are this show's bread and butter, it's rare for any of the participants to emerge from the hour without blemishing his or her image. It's not a good sign when the only name leaked as a possibility so far is Saturday Night Live alum Victoria Jackson, who's not even on TV right now. (And her husband, Bill Guthry, is a business guy most people have never heard of.)

Now, if we were casting agent superheroes, we'd go with some couples sure to entertain. How about Ozzie and Sharon Osbourne swapping with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? Would Tom enlighten Sharon on the merits of Scientology? Or would she enlighten him about her strong opinions on... everything?

We'd also love to see Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore switching with Bruce Willis and his wife, Emma Heming. Talk about having dirty laundry to share!

And what about Khloe Kardashian moving in with Arnold Schwarzenneger, while Maria Shriver plays house with Lamar Odom? That would be some good TV. We'd watch, anyway.
